Hello MVMPCS Meerkat Families! The first day of school is almost here and while our amazing staff have been busily preparing the building for your arrival, MVM’s parent volunteers have been working to update our website to make sure our families know what to expect during the upcoming school year. Below are some helpful links to information you may need over the next few weeks.

First Day of School 

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 17, 2022 for Kindergarten, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School (see schedule below for pre-K staggered start). Doors will open at 8:30am and students should be in their classrooms and ready for community meeting by 9:00am. 

Primary Staggered Start Schedule

• 81/17-8/19: All Kindergarten students attend
• 8/22-23: All kindergarten and PreK-4 students attend
• 8/24: All kindergarten, PreK-4 and PreK-3 students attend

Carline Change 

Please note that there has been a change to the carline procedure for this school year and MVM will be returning to a single carline originating on Evergreen Terrace. Please be patient with drop-off and pick-up for the first week as this always takes longer as everyone learns new routines and procedures.

Arrival and Dismissal 

There will only be one carline this year and all carline students will enter the building via the Evergreen Terrace entrance. Please review the map below showing the flow of carline. Please note that per the City of Frederick, both Evergreen Terrace and Bruner Alley are one-way during carline. Please enter Evergreen Terrace from Elm Street and only use Bruner Alley to exit carline towards 5th Street. Additionally, there are absolutely NO RIGHT TURNS from Elm Street into carline. The City of Frederick is very serious about this requirement to prevent the obstruction of emergency vehicles headed to Frederick Health Hospital emergencies.

Are you signed up for MVMPCS Communications?

On August 4, 2022, our Principal Ms. Dorman sent a Back to School Newsletter with some great information about what the start of school looks like for our Meerkats. Did you receive it? 

The newsletter from the office is sent out via the FCPS Find Out First (FOF) system. Our IT volunteers have added the email addresses that parents used to sign into the lottery system to the MVMPCS FOF list but FCPS allows families to have up to 2 emails registered for each FOF account. Please visit https://fcps.ezcommunicator.net/edu/frederick/ or https://fcps.org/fof to find out more, add additional email addresses or change your notification settings. 

If you didn’t see Ms.Dorman’s Back to School Newsletter, please check the “junk” or “spam” folders on the email account you used to sign into the lottery system and add be sure to add FCPS_MonocacyValleyMontessori@ezcommunicator.com to your contact list!

Wondering How to Get Involved as a Parent Volunteer This Year

ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST complete FCPS’ volunteer training BEFORE volunteering. This training is required to volunteer in the school, in the classroom, and chaperone field trips and is only valid for the school year in which it is completed. For this school year, you must have completed the volunteer training after July 1, 2022.
