How will you get involved?

Family Requirements: Two-parent/guardian households need to volunteer at least 30 hours each year; single-parent/guardian households need to give at least 10 hours.

Participation Requirement: When working directly with students, you must complete FCPS Volunteer Training and be approved by the MVM Front Office.

What volunteer jobs require training?

  • In the school
  • In the classroom
  • With after school clubs
  • Chaperoning field trips

What is the training process?

  1. Go to the Volunteer in FCPS web page
  2. Follow detailed instructions to:
    1. Create an account on the training platform
    2. Complete the two required trainings
  3. Register in the Volunteer Registration Platform
  4. Receive:
    1. Notification of completion
    2. Approval notification
  5. Forward Approval Notification to MVM Front Office to confirm approval 

 

What else do I need to know?

  • Training must be completed prior to you volunteering
  • Background check and approval can take 72 business hours
  • Training must be done each school year
    • Only parents who have completed training after the July 1 reset date will be able to volunteer
  • Only 1 person will be approved per email address
  • You will need to bring your ID to the MVM Front Office when you sign in to volunteer
  • Volunteers will be turned away if they have not completed the training
    No exceptions
